This position is responsible for providing counseling to Service Members, Veterans, and Families who reside in a the Center's five county catchment area of Taylor, Jones, Callahan, Stephens, and Shackelford Counties. The services will be provided in Center facilities or in a community location. This position will collaborate with the Center's Peer Service Coordinator and other Trained Peers to identify and screen candidates who are in need of treatment but may not have access to care and may not be eligible for Veterans Affairs Health Administration Services.
This position must have the ability to make professional evaluations, decisions, and recommendation for treatment, planning, and implementation. The position must be skilled in crisis intervention, to include suicide prevention.
Counseling services will be provided using at least one of the treatment modalities Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and/or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). The position will also be trained and certified in Military Informed Care.
This position will report to the MH Program Administrator
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Requires a Masters Degree in Counseling, Social Work or Psychology from an accredited college or
university.
•Must either have a current license as an LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Psychologist.
•Must be eligible to be certified as a Qualified Mental Health Professional.
•Prefer experience in working with Service Members, Veterans, and Family members.
•Prefer experience in working with PTSD, traumatic brain injury, military sexual trauma.
•Strongly prefer two years minimum post masters mental health counselor and military service experience.
•Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License and be an insurable driver.
Will be eligible for a one and two year step increase, depending on satisfactory performance.
