POSITION: Sales Manager

REPORTS TO: Director of Sales & Vice President, Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau

DESCRIPTION: Responsible for selling Abilene as a destination of choice for group business that will generate overnight stays. Represent the ACVB in a positive, professional manner in appearance and attitude. Maintain a positive, pleasant, and helpful attitude among coworkers.

MARKET: Group Business (excludes sports)
This is an exempt position.

• Solicit group business through sales missions, calls, trade shows, and research.
• Execute presentations to potential group business clients.
• Develop and maintain a good working relationship with clients.
• Support sales activities targeted at the group market.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with all area attractions and facilities.
• Conduct site inspections for group prospects.
• Participate in industry-related organizations as needed.
• Input complete meeting information in iDSS and TXMET.
• Produce sales proposals and bid presentations.
• Staying knowledgeable about Abilene’s current offerings.
• Must be willing to travel to represent Abilene.

• Bachelor's degree or professional experience equivalent to job requirements
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively cultivate relationships with volunteers, vendors, and community stakeholders
• Ability to organize, plan and prioritize multiple projects at one time
• Strong written communications skills
• Ability to think creatively and innovatively as well as provide solutions
• Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Results-oriented and willing to be accountable to measurable goals
• Capable of maintaining sensitive/confidential information
• Must be a team player that works well in a fast-paced, changing environment
• Must be willing to travel to represent Abilene.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, Word
• Must have/maintain a dependable vehicle with proof of license and insurance

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit at a desk and computer for long periods of time. May be requested to lift materials of up to 35 lbs.

Most duties will be performed in and from the ACVB office during regular business hours. Travel and work off-site will be required, as well as occasional work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. A minimum average time commitment will exceed 40 hours per week to fulfill the duties required of this exempt position.

Compensation and Employee Benefits Salary is commensurate with experience and is structured with an annual salary and incentive plan.
