When Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale walks onto the Hardin-Simmons University campus this fall, he’ll bring more than his famously fast-paced energy and business savvy. He’ll bring a message rooted in grit, generosity, and purpose—the kind of leadership that doesn’t just build businesses but transforms communities.
McIngvale, the renowned Houston entrepreneur and founder of Gallery Furniture, will headline the fall 2025 Fletcher Lecture Series at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, in the Houston-Lantrip Center, 2241 Pine St.
Known for his bold marketing, steadfast faith, and servant leadership—including turning his stores into shelters during Houston’s worst storms—McIngvale exemplifies the kind of impact-driven leadership the series aims to spotlight.
The Abilene Chamber is proud to partner with Hardin-Simmons University on the Fletcher Lecture Series and hope you can attend this and the other sessions this fall. For any questions about reserving your seat, please refer to the contact information below.
The Fletcher Lecture Series at Hardin-Simmons University brings nationally recognized leaders to campus to explore big ideas at the intersection of business, science, faith, and public life. Designed to spark meaningful dialogue, each event connects students, faculty, and the broader West Texas community with thought leaders who shape our world.
Named for former HSU president Dr. Jesse C. Fletcher, the series honors his legacy of intellectual curiosity and faith-driven leadership. It reinforces our university’s mission to equip students with both professional insight and enduring values.
