Description

Paint is often viewed as an inexpensive and easy way to beautify a building façade, but done without proper consideration, it can also lead to the loss of a community’s history and heritage. Learn things to think about before you ever pick up a paintbrush.

$10 per event and includes a box lunch

Sarah Jane Blankenship: Sarah Jane Blankenship is a 13-year veteran of the Texas Historic Commission, where she provided computer renderings and technical advice to building and business owners about how to respectfully adapt historic buildings to new uses. Today, she takes both commercial and residential commissions for sign painting, murals, ghost sign restoration, computer renderings and other art projects.
Sarah Jane will restore a ghost sign in Downtown Abilene as part of this engagement. The workshop might include a site visit/walking tour to this and other painted signage and mural examples.
